A friend asked if I have a new post in my blog, I said “yes.” She asked the topic and I replied, “it’s about financial literacy.” Once again she asked, “why it’s not about love?” I retorted curtly, “I’m done talking and blogging about romantic love.” Well to simply put it, right now I’m transmuting my energy into something productive. I remember what I read from Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It’s great and I highly recommend reading this book. More of Think and Grow Rich for my next post.
Right now my energy is all out for the search of financial freedom. I’m 30 and worried. Hmmm…. I’m not worried of enjoying single blessedness, but about my future. I’ve been working abroad for 4 years now. Gosh, how time flies so swiftly. Four years of being away from home and working hard and duplicating myself to support my family. You see I’m the bread winner. I have two brothers and they’re both married. My older brother has two kids and gee my younger brother who vowed to be single forever got married last month and me who was dying to get married didn’t, call it ironies of life! I have to support my parents especially my dad who is sickly but praise God he’s doing well right now. Keep it up Tatay!
When my birthday was coming I panicked. I didn’t panicked because I’m not married or anything. I don’t mind joining my single friends, (grinned.) I analyzed my financial life and I’m sorry to disappoint you, it’s not different from what you’ve heard from OFW’s all around the globe. “No savings,” "no investments." Toinks!!!
So now I’m not busy about love but I’m busy educating myself about financial literacy. I read lots of blogs and books, watch youtube about finance, business, how to get rich etc. as long it’s all about money, investments, stock market, mutual fund name it. From Bo Sanchez’s blog, to Robert Kiyosaki, Larry Gamboa, Colayco, T. Harv Ecker, Napoleon Hill, Wallace Wattles etc. I wonder what to read next, any suggestions???
Last time, I asked my mom to buy and read Bo Sanchez’s book Choose to be Wealthy. I have the eBook but I want my love ones to read about it so that they will understand me and by reading they will be on their first step to financial literacy too. Sometimes, they think I’m getting crazy. Yes, I’m crazy to be financially free. I got another book, Conquer Your Goliath compliments of Bo Sanchez from Truly Rich Club. I always checked and asked my mom if she read the books and I couldn’t help myself from laughing out loud. She said she’s too old to be rich! But I’m happy she took time to read it. One time maybe she noticed how money conscious I am, she texted me. “My dear, I thought you’re the only millionaire in the family gee I was wrong your dad too.” Sorry I won’t elaborate why maybe someone could read this and tell my dad, (LOL!) but it’s a joke that made me laughed to my heart’s content.
For me being rich is a state of the mind. To be rich we have to change our perspective, our mindset esp. about money or wealth. First step to financial freedom is by obtaining financial literacy. Educate yourself by reading books and getting someone like a financial planner or mentor to help you with your finances. It’s a long way to this kind of journey and it’s some kind of lonely if you trudge alone. Well, you can join me in my journey to financial freedom. And you can share your own story. Hope to hear from you guys but for sure you'll hear a lot from me about financial literacy and my journey in life, faith and love. God bless you!
